Gaya is important pilgrimage of Hindus situated in Bihar in India. According to puranas, it is a place of freedom of soul. Here a fair is organized for seventeen days every year from Chaturdashi of Bhadrapadh to Amavasya of Ashwin Paksh. The actual Shradh rituals lasts for 7 days but nowdays single day Shradh ritual is in practice. In this single day, people who visit Gaya for Shradh rituals and Pind-dan, perform all the rituals at river Falgu,Vishnupad temple Akshayvat and with the help of Gaya priests,they get blessings, thereby completing their Shradh and Pind-dan rituals.
The importance of this place is known for shrad and Pinddan. Here Shrad and Pinddan has done by Lord Ram for his father Dashratha, Bhism ji of his father Shantanu, Lord Krishna of his father Vasudev and Yudhisthira of his father Raja Pandu.
Falgu pilgrim, Vishnupad Mandir, Lord Gadadhar, Adi Gaya, Suray Kunda, Ram Gaya, Sita Kunda, Uttar Manas, Ramshila, Kak bali, Pretshila, Brahma Kunda, Akshayvat, Mangala Gauri, Akash Ganga, and Brahma Yoni etc are the religious and holy pilgrimage over here.
